2020 Graduate

“I started KAP because I observed that there were very few resources for pre-law students such as myself on UIUCs campus. Additionally, there were few opportunities for pre-law students to meet like-minded peers, as well as to network with alumni in the legal field. As a first-generation college student, I had little insight into the legal field and figured there must be many others like me. Thus, together, Dakota Richmond and I chartered a Kappa Alpha Pi chapter at the University of Illinois. Forming this organization was easily the best decision I have made throughout my collegiate career. I have learned so much about the legal field and gained many valuable connections. I have grown both professionally and personally. Most importantly, I have made some incredible friends that I will have for the rest of my life. It fills my heart to see how much KAP has grown since the beginning, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for this chapter. KAP is made up of a group of incredibly intelligent, kind, and wonderful people. Anyone who is a member should be immensely proud to be a part of this fraternity. Also current plans: Got a job at the United States Pre-Trial Services, will be working there before attending law school" - Kayla Candos
